The Delegation of the European Union/European Union Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUD/EUSR), the Embassy of Sweden to BiH, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to BiH, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to BiH, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and RENEXPO®BiH are organizing a two day event for university students - Climate Change Dialogue in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It will take place on 5th and 6th of November, 2015 in Sarajevo.
On the first day, within RENEXPO® BiH 2015 in Hotel Hollywood Sarajevo, students will have an opportunity to acquire scientific and technical knowledge, participate in training sessions, attend panel discussions, visit the fair and meet representatives of leading companies in the field of renewable energy, energy efficiency and innovation. An evening reception will conclude the day.
The second day will start with a Dialogue on climate change with EU Member States' Ambassadors, at the Sarajevo Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. This will be followed by an organised visit to buildings in Sarajevo that have implemented Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency measures as well as facilities powered on Renewable Energy sources in Zenica.
In order to apply for participation, students should submit an online application.
Participation is limited to up to 100 students from Faculties of Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Political Sciences, Environmental studies and faculties with an environmental department. Transport and accommodation may be provided for students, provided that their residence is not in Sarajevo.
Young people from across BiH interested to participate in this Dialogue should be university students in relevant fields (architecture, mechanical, electrical, civil engineering, political sciences, environmental studies). A working command of local language and English is desirable however simultaneous translation will be made available.
Selection of participants will be completed by a selection panel comprised of Climate Change Dialogue BiH Event partners to ensure equal representation of students of required educational backgrounds. The list of the final participants will be published on this website. The deadline for submission of the online application is 22 October 2015.
Applicants may choose to up- load their CVs on a voluntary basis. These CVs would be available to RENEXPO® participants so that all stakeholders may avail of contacts and networks customary to such events.
Background info: The recent floods in BiH in 2014 are a prime example of climate change effects that showed the vulnerability of Bosnia and Herzegovina to changed weather patterns and weather extremes. The objective of the Climate Change Dialogue and the programme as a whole is to engender public understanding and concern for the impacts and threats caused by climate change. The Climate Change Dialogue in Bosnia and Herzegovina is part of the EU's diplomacy leading up to COP21.
