Currently the Universita G. d’Annunzio Dipartimento di Architettura di Pescara, with the participation of the municipality of Pescara, is hosting its first Summer School for Collaborative research from August 31 – September 12, 2015. Four hundred and fifty students as well as thirty seven educators from Italy and abroad are participating, where four BURCH students are representing Bosnia and Herzegovina. Aside from staff and students, prominent guest speakers, architects and artists have been invited to participate in workshops and lectures to enrich the experience. Other cultural events organized by the city of Pescara have been tied into the events of the Summer School.
The students have been divided into different labs that address 10 urban sites situated in Pescara. BURCH students are participating in Lab 3, they are analyzing and proposing an improvement for the area of the current train stain. The students have proposed a site strategy for the area and are now working on the architectonics of a theatre, sports facilities and a new bus terminal for the site.
Final presentation of the student work is scheduled for September 12, 2015 where the design will be presented to the municipality and the citizens of Pescara.
