International Burch University and University “G. d’Annunzio” Chieti - Pescara (Italy) Architecture Departments have signed an Erasmus and Mutual Understanding Agreements. The Department of Architecture at IBU and that of the University G. d’Annunzio started their co-operation in September of 2015 when four IBU students and three members of teaching staff participated in the International Pescara Summer School 2015in Pescara, Italy. The following year in 2016 IBU team joined the second annual Pescara Summer School 2016.
Following the first summer school, the two departments decided to collaborate on a joint design studio entitled “Ars Aevi—Museum of Contemporary Art in Sarajevo”. The project brief calls upon the students at both universities to envision and propose a design for a new building that will house the Ars Aevi collection, which is temporarily stored at the Skenderija complex.
As part of the design studio, forty Italian students and four professors visited Sarajevo to participate in a joint workshop with IBU from April 1 – April 6, 2016. The IBU and Pescara students together visited Ars Aevi museum on April 3 where they were introduced to the history of the project and the significance of the collection by the director of Ars Aevi, Mr. Enver Hadziomersphaic. In the following days the two groups of students had a chance to work together and exchange design strategies for the new museum at IBU. The final work will be exhibited at both universities upon completion at the end of the semester.
IBU Architecture is in the process of signing an Erasmus Agreement as well as Mutual Understanding Agreement with the Architecture Department at the University “G. d’Annunzio” that will further fortify the collaboration between the two universities.
